From now on, Manresa will celebrate forty events and a hundred different activities throughout the year to commemorate that Saint Ignatius chose this city to crown his initiatory journey. \u00bb<\/em><\/p><p>The first authorities of Catalonia had interventions in the opening act. The President of the Parliament of Catalonia, Laura Borr\u00e1s, the President of the Government of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Pere Aragon\u00e8s, and the Mayor Marc Aloy, highlighted the importance of this year dedicated to Saint Ignatius:<\/p><p><em>\u00abThe mayor, Marc Aloy, made a call to &#8220;permeate ourselves with the Ignatian spirit to project ourselves towards a better future&#8221;. President Pere Aragon\u00e8s said that the celebration \u201cis very relevant for Christianity as a whole, for the Jesuits, for Manresa and for Catalonia\u201d.\u00bb<\/em><\/p><p><em>\u00abThe Ignatian year also vindicates its path, a pilgrimage route traveled by hundreds of pilgrims each year and which begins in the Basque lands, passes through La Rioja, Navarra and Arag\u00f3n, until entering Catalonia and ending in Manresa. In total, 650 kilometers in 27 stages.
